From the first female doctor to the first female to fly across the ocean women have helped shape American History. The Women Who Shaped American History Postage Stamp Collection by American Coin Treasures honors the achievements of seven courageous individuals. The collection contains an 18 cent Elizabeth Blackwell stamp. Blackwell was the first female to graduate medical school in the United States. She became a doctor and later helped found two medical colleges for women. A 3 cent Susan B. Anthony stamp is the second stamp in the set. Anthony devoted her life to the woman’s suffrage movement and helped to pave the way for the passage of the 19th Amendment. The third stamp in the collection is a 13 cent tribute to Harriet Tubman. Tubman born a slave escaped and helped hundreds to freedom. She also served as a nurse cook and spy for the Union Army. An 8 cent Amelia Earhart is the fourth stamp in the collection. Earhart was the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic. She disappeared while flying around the world in 1937. Dr. Mary Walker is the fifth stamp at 20 cents. Walker treated the sick and wounded during the Civil War. She received the Congressional Medal of Honor in 1865. The sixth stamp displayed is a 5 cent Eleanor Roosevelt. Roosevelt served as the First Lady was a writer and a delegate to the United Nations. She was active in helping the poor minorities and young people. The last stamp is a 3 cent Clara Barton. Barton Founder of the American Red Cross was also a school teacher a principal and known as the Angel of the Battlefield. The stamps in the collection are all genuine United States Postage Stamps in mint state. The stamps are housed in a protective 4 x 6 black portfolio and come with a Certificate of Authenticity.
